Fall Poker Run Report

By: Kevin Bruso

It was Saturday, October 1st, and once again our club was blessed with a perfect day for touring. Participants met up at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford, and about 9:30 a.m. the first car left with their first card in hand on the staggered start for the fall poker run.

Following only written driving instructions, (there was an emergency map provided), drivers and co-pilots ventured off to discover four destinations, and pick-up the remaining cards necessary for their poker hand. The stops included fellow member Jim Wright’s home, Weber’s Country Equipment, Camp Gehring, and the final stop at Alan & Carol Egelseer’s home in HustisFORD, where our group met up with many members of The Early Ford V-8 club. Along the very enjoyable route, we also had some local trivia questions to answer as we motored along.

After everyone arrived and had time to enjoy the camaraderie of the other car owners, we got around to comparing poker hands and found Keith and Carol Gumbinger to be the winners with the best poker hand. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the quality and quantity of the cars in the Early V-8 club was simply astounding. A brief return trip to Hartford to load up brought an end to another excellent day in the Model T.
