Minutes of November 11, 2007 Meeting

The fall meeting of the Dairyland Tin Lizzies was called to order at 2:00 p.m. by President Kevin Bruso on Sunday, November 11 at the Millhome Supper Club near Kiel, Wisconsin.

Jim Hess moved to accept the minutes of the April 15, 2007 meeting as written, which were distributed at the November meeting. Joe Vrana seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Secretary Jim Rodell, Jr. distributed copies of the Treasurer’s Report written by Treasurer Adam Doleshal. James Wright moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. Ron Stock seconded the motion. Motion carried after discussion of having club treasury pay for upcoming Christmas party expenses, and club holds off on establishing a savings account.

Keith Gumbinger moved that the club treasury pay expenses for the club Christmas party to be held January 26. Ron Stock seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Webmaster Carol Gumbinger requested digital pictures from members, and asked members to let her know of mistakes which need to be corrected on the club website.

As Vice President/ Membership Chair, Carol had nothing new to report.

Newsletter Editor Dan Schultz reported that he is mailing 16 to 17 copies of the club newsletter, and emailing the rest. The format for the printed copies is black and white for now. Dan thanked members for submitting articles and pictures for the newsletter, with special recognition to Kendall Gerrits for her article and pictures in the November issue of The Buzz.

Old Business:

Kevin Bruso reported on the June 9 tour to the Lake Geneva area and Yerkes Observatory hosted by Jim Hess and Carol Gumbinger.

Gregg Zangl reported on Old Falls Village Days held June 23 and 24.

Kevin Bruso reported on Flivver Fest held July 29, and thanked Shelly Humphrey and her committee for the event, which attracted 26 Model T’s this year.

Jim Rodell, Sr reported on the Raspberry Festival hosted by Jerry Prochnow of the Kettle Moraine Chapter.

A report was given on the Hill and Valley tour hosted by the Wisconsin Capital Model T Club on September 15

Bob Wirth reported on the Richfield Historical Society Thresheree with two Model T tours organized by Tod for the Dairyland Tin Lizzies and the Model T Ford Club of Greater Milwaukee held on September 16. Sixteen Model T’s were in attendance.

A report was given on the show sponsored by the South Shore YMCA organized by Kent Sumner of the Model T Ford Club of Greater Milwaukee.

Dan Schultz reported on the Fall Cookout Tour hosted by him and Phyllis, Rich and Andy Edler, and Rod Prinsen. Keith Gumbinger complimented the committee for the food, and Shawn Gerrits expressed his enjoyment driving his Model T on Seven Hills Road.

Jim Rodell Jr. reported on Model T Day held August 18 at Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford. Approximately 30 Model T’s attended on a rainy day.

Jim Wright commented that he would like a mailed copy of the newsletter, especially as a reminder for meetings.

Keith Gumbinger reminded members on tours to look out for the Model T behind them so that if someone breaks down, they are not left behnd.

Katie Stock commented that she enjoys tours with few planned stops so the schedule is more relaxed.

New Business/Future Events:

The Dairyland Tin Lizzies Christmas party hosted by Adam & Christine Doleshal will be held at Harnischfeger Park near Ashippun on Saturday, January 26 at noon.

Tin Lizzie University will be held Saturday, February 16 at Vrana Frame and Body Shop in West Bend beginning at 1 p.m. Jim Hess volunteered to present a program at Tin Lizzie University detailing installation of turn signals on a Model T.

Jim Hess volunteered to contact Bill Stipe of Specialty Motor Cams near Plymouth for a field trip of his shop this spring.

President Kevin Bruso announced a Midwest Model T Snowmobile Club event to be held in Cokato, Minnesota January 19-20, 2008.

Keith Gumbinger moved that the Dairyland Tin Lizzies rent a club booth at a cost of $30 at the Winter Parts Swap at Washington County Fair Park on Sunday, February 24, 2008 as in years past to promote our club, the Model T Ford Club of America, and the hobby. Jim Hess seconded the motion. Motion carried.

President Bruso announced a pre-war swap meet to be held at Old Time Auto Parts in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin on Sunday, May 4.

President Bruso promoted the Model T Ford Club of America Centennial Celebration in Richmond, Indiana and the Piquette Chapter of the Model T Ford Club International’s Celebration in September as events commemorating the 100the anniversary of the Model T Ford to be held in 2008.

Pete and Shelly Humphrey will chair Flivver Fest in Waterloo for 2008. The event will be moved to June 22, earlier than past years to avoid conflict with the centennial celebration in Indiana.

Pete and Shelly also expressed their desire to organize an overnight tour to Green Bay with visits to the National Railroad Museum, the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame, and lunch at Curley’s Pub.

The Dairyland Tin Lizzies are planning to hold "Model T Day" at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford on Saturday, August 16. Jim Rodell, Jr. will check to confirm that the date will not interfere with other events in Hartford.

The Dairyland Tin Lizzies welcomes more events planned by its members, especially for the fall of 2008.

President Kevin Bruso reminded members to vote for candidates running to become board members of the Model T Ford Club of America. Kevin read a letter received from candidate Reginald Urness.

Pete and Shelly Humphrey will organize a location for the spring 2008 business meeting, tentatively set for April 6, 2008

Jim Hess moved to adjourn the meeting at 3:10 p.m. Shelly Humphrey seconded the motion.

Keith Gumbinger congratulated DeWayne and Diane Fritz and the Wirth families for their successes at the Model T Ford Club International National Tour held at Grand Rapids, Michigan.
