Minutes of April 15, 2007 Meeting

      The spring meeting of the Dairyland Tin Lizzies was called to order at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 at the Union Hall in Horicon, Wisconsin  by President Keith Gumbinger.

     Jim Hess moved to accept the minutes of the November 12, 2006 meeting as printed in The Buzz  and distributed at the meeting.  Joe Vrana seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

     Treasurer Adam Doleshal distributed copies of the Treasurer’s Report.  Jim Hess moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Joe Vrana seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

     Webmaster Carol Gumbinger reported that she will take orders for imprinted aluminum Dairyland Tin Lizzies name badges at a cost of $5.25 each to the member requesting it. 

     Newsletter editor Dan Schultz was not present during the business portion of the meeting due to a Model T mechanical problem.  Carol Gumbinger announced that members with email would receive their Buzz newsletters electronically unless a special request is made to get a mailed copy. 

 

Old Business:

      Adam Doleshal reported on the January 13 Christmas party hosted by him and Christine at Harnischfeger Park near Ashippun.  About forty members attended.  Adam and Christine will host the next Christmas party, and will announce a date at the fall business meeting. 

     President Keith Gumbinger reported on Tin Lizzie University held February 10 at Vrana Frame & Body Shop in West Bend.   Topics covered this year included pedal cams, front end alignment, and ignition switches. 

     President Gumbinger also reported on a second Tin Lizzie University held March 24 at the home of Harry Nelezen near Oconomowoc, which consisted of a safety inspection of Harry’s 1926 coupe, candle-making, and a tour of the property. 

     A report on the club booth at the rescheduled Model A club Winter Swap Meet held April 7 at the Washington County Fair Park was given by Keith.  The meet this year resulted in Mike & Heidi Finn joining our club.  Sales of Model T Ford Club of America items were lower than past years.      

 

New Business:

      An idea was forwarded to create a “Membership Chairperson” to receive new members and verify MTFCA membership, maintain the roster, and collect dues.  After discussion, Jim Hess moved to make the “Membership Chairperson” duties part of the Vice-President’s job.  George Doleshal seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

National Events 

       President Keith Gumbinger highlighted upcoming Model T Ford Club of America events, including the centennial event to be held July 21 to 26, 2008 in Richmond, Indiana. 

 

Local Events

      Carol Gumbinger announced a club tour in the Lake Geneva area to be held June 9, including a visit to Yerkes Observatory.  The tour will originate in Kenosha. 

     Menomonee Falls Historical Society would like Dairyland Tin Lizzies members to bring Model T’s to Old Falls Village Days held June 23 and 24. 

      Flivver Fest will be held Sunday, July 29, and will include a tour to Waterloo Firemen’s Park with its restored Parker carousel. 

   Jim Rodell, Jr. reported on plans for Model T Day to be held August 18 at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Sign-up sheets were circulated to gain volunteers for running various parts of the event.

     The Wisconsin Capital Model T Club will be holding their Hill and Valley Tour and related events in Cross Plains on Saturday, September 15.  Adam Doleshal will lead interested members on a tour to the event from eastern Wisconsin. 

     Tod Wirth announced a tour he is planning as a joint event with the Model T Ford Club of Greater Milwaukee to be held Sunday, September 16.  The tour will culminate at the Richfield Historical Society Thresheree held at their historical park, home of the Meyer-Messer grist mill.

     Rich Edler reported that he, Rod Prinsen, and Dan Schultz would like to plan a tour in the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest area.  Date to be determined. 

     Sandra Stock volunteered a location for the November 11 fall business meeting.  The Koehring House old stagecoach inn in Kiel is available to use for our meeting, and Katie works there.  Our fall meeting will be held there. 

     An announcement was made that embroidered items with the Dairyland Tin Lizzies logo are available by contacting Dan Schultz. 

 

 Election of Officers

      Jim Rodell, Jr. nominated Kevin Bruso for president.  Jim Hess seconded the nomination.  Jim Hess moved to close the nominations.  Cliff Baumann seconded the motion to close the nominations.  Motion carried.

     Jim Rodell, Jr. nominated Carol Gumbinger for vice-president.  Jim Rodell, Sr. seconded the nomination.  Jim Rodell, Sr. moved to close the nominations.  Joe Vrana seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

     Keith Gumbinger nominated Jim Rodell, Jr. for secretary.  Carol Gumbinger seconded the nomination.  Jim Hess moved to close the nominations.  Bob Wirth seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

     Jim Hess nominated Adam Doleshal for treasurer.  Joe Vrana seconded the nomination.  Jim Wright moved to close the nominations.  Rich Edler seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

 

Other New Business

      Duane Nicholson asked about the $25.00/day tour planner incentive.  Secretary Jim Rodell, Jr. explained the policy which was established at the April 2, 2006 meeting. 

     Keith Gumbinger announced that Jerry Gendt from the Milwaukee area approached him at the swap meet and informed him that he has Model T parts and tools for sale. 

 

Jim Hess moved to adjourn the meeting.  Rod Prinsen seconded the motion.  Meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m., followed by lunch hosted by the Gerrits family.
