Washington County Fair Park Swap Meet

March 2, 2003

After decades of holding their Winter Parts Swap at State Fair Park in West Allis, the Model A Ford Club of America-Wisconsin Region moved their meet to Washington County Fair Park south of West Bend. The Dairyland Tin Lizzies took this opportunity to promote both our local club and the Model T Ford Club of America.

An indoor swap space shared with Jim Rodell and Adam Doleshal gave enough room to display the Model T Ford Club of America banner, sell MTFCA restoration manuals, decals, videos, caps, etc., and promote membership in both the national club and the Dairyland Tin Lizzies. As a result, we gained two new families for our local club. Welcome to Richard Edler of Waldo, and Ron and Sandra Stock of Newton.

A highlight of our display was Carol Gumbinger’s laptop computer programmed with a presentation of photos from past Dairyland Tin Lizzies events, showing what we are about. The booth served as a gathering place for our members, and a lot of good T-talk happened that day among our members and the swap meet crowd.

A good time was had by all in the warmth of the Washington County Fair Park pavilion, with occasional snow, wind, and cold temperatures outside the door. Yes- Gregg Zangl did drive his 1913 depot hack to attend the swap meet. Did you expect any different? Thank you to all who helped to make this event a success!
