MODEL T DAY, Hartford, WI

By Kevin Bruso

On Saturday August 20th, The Dairyland Tin Lizzies, and the Wisconsin Automotive Museum hosted our first "Model T Day", an old-time idea brought back to life by Jim Rodell Jr. Back in the days of the T, dealerships had their own "Model T Days" to promote sales and ownership of Model T’s. The main focus of our day’s activities was to expose the public, especially youth, to the present day Model T hobby. In conjunction with the Milwaukee club members, we had about 20 cars on display, with members doing starting demonstrations, sharing information about their cars, and providing rides to guests. There was food available for purchase, which also raised some funds for our club treasury. A special Thank You! to those who helped with the food service all afternoon.

In all respects, the day was a huge success, as we were able to draw a fairly large crowd until late in the afternoon. We provided a lot of people with their first ride in a Model T, and brought back a lot of good memories for many folks who knew these cars very well many years ago. As a club, we look forward to doing this event again next year.
